Transflective Sunlight Readable LCD Displays
The
primary goal of sunlight readability in a flat panel display
is to achieve a high bright display without increasing the
number of backlights which raises power consumption so additional
heat has to be dissipated with fans or other cooling devices.
For instance,
a standard industrial 18.1" display will output about
300 Nits while an 18.1" Display integrated with our Transflective
technology will output 900 to 1000 Nits when exposed to sunlight.
This is
accomplished by the capturing the sunlight and reflecting
it back through the screen. It is similar to placing a one-way
mirror behind the screen that then reflects back whatever
sunlight hits upon and passes through the display. In this
manner, the brighter the sunlight becomes, the brighter the
picture becomes. The unique optical properties of the polarizer
doubles the amount of reflected brightness and increases the
perceived contrast of the display.
This technology
eliminates the need for additional backlighting through the
utilization of reflective layers placed behind the glass LCD
screen and in front of the backlights .
· Transflective technology uses the Sun's energy to
brighten the screen in direct sunlight
·
Consumes less power than conventional high bright displays
·
Generates less heat than comparable high bright monitors.
·
Provides longer product life expectancy as a result of less
power and heat
