VarTech Releases New and Improved Series 3 All-Weather, All-Terrain,
Submersible LCD Models
| VarTech
has released its 3rd generation series of Submersible,
All-Weather, All-Terrain LCDs with screen sizes of 8.4",
10.4", 12.1", and 15.0".
Improvement
Overview:
•
Improved LED backlighting
• Improvements to the optical stack
• Improved mechanical design
Improved LED Backlighting
Our
newly released advanced LED Backlight technology utilizes
the very latest in LED semiconductor technology and allows
us to more precisely control the brightness of specific areas
of the screen. True backlight luminance has been increased
without compromises to thermal dissipation, power consumption
and life expectancy. The results are a dramatically enhanced
contrast with extended brightness and dynamic range.
Other
improvements due to the new LED backlight technology are:
-
Color stability through active feedback
- Adjustable
white point in backlight
- Infinite
dimming without color shifts
- Motion
blur reduction

A
VarTech LED backlight panel enhances the viewing experience
of LCD display by providing better color, dynamic backlight
control and VarTech’s LEDs are environmentally friendly
and safe.
Improvements
to the Optical Stack:
VarTech's
latest proprietary Optical Stack Enhancement (OSE) further
advances the performance of the electronic LCD displays by
making them brighter, clearer, whiter and more colorful. The
difference, quite literally, must be seen to be believed.
As
light passes through a liquid crystal display, much of it
can be absorbed along the way to the viewer. In fact, in a
typical LCD display a theoretical maximum of only 16% of the
backlight's potential is realized, in practice, this number
is much lower at 8 to 10%.
The
new film enhancement technology is a unique optical design
which boosts efficiency of the backlight's light utilization
and minimizes the surface reflection of ambient light. The
result is a transmissive enhancement that features higher
contrast and a wider range of colors, even in bright outdoor
light, than traditional reflective LCDs. This is accomplished
by:
Recycling
what would be wasted off axis light and then redirecting light
towards the viewer;
Reflecting
and recycling polarized light which under normal circumstances
50% of the backlight output would have been absorbed into
the LCD and subsequently wasted;
The
integration of an advanced polarizing film which can also
make LCDs background whiter and brighter. This new film type
offers increased reflective properties while maintaining transmissiveness.
It nearly doubles reflected brightness across the complete
viewing range which reduces the need for driving the backlight
higher and brighter therefore extending the life expectancy
of the LED backlight system and reducing battery charge.
Finally,
the use of a multilayer, ultra-high reflectivity, mirror-like
optical enhancement film that is used as a very efficient
light guide and cavity reflector with a reflectivity of 98.5%
across the visible spectrum which provides a brighter more
efficient display.
Improved Mechanical Design:
New
IP68 (NEMA 6P) Fully-Enclosed, Submersible design constructed
of a Rugged Machined 6061 T6 Aluminum Enclosure.
Improved
user controls: no more membrane but rather now sealed momentary
pushbutton switches designed with a smooth tactile feel. These
switches are sealed to IP68 standards with expected life of
500,000 cycles.

New Lighter, Slimmer Full Computer Workstations with Integrated
LCD and Integrated Keyboard and Touch Pad.
|

|
VarTech
has re-engineered the ESW series of its ToughStation NEMA
4X all-in-one computer workstations with 15.0" or 19.0"
integrated LCDs to achieve a new lighter and slimmer design.
Several factors contribute to the sleekness of the new models
including new components, new internal system arrangement,
and new internal thermal management allowing for the removal
of the rear heat sink on the previous versions.
The
new ESW ToughStations feature an Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz w/533
MHz FSB processor, 2GB of DDR2 system memory, and a 320GB
hard drive. They use the Windows XP Pro operating system.
The
ESW series workstations are ideal for factory process automation,
pharmaceutical operation, process control, and rugged workstation
areas where water, dust, vibrations and wide temperatures
exist.

New
Thin Model NEMA 4 and 4X All-in-One Computers with
intergrated 15.0" and 17.0" LCDs
VarTech's
new series, VA and VSA All-in-One NEMA 4 and 4X fully-enclosed
computers with integrated 15.0" or 17.0" LCD,
have slimmer profiles and are lighter weight than the existing
V and VS models. The existing V and VS models, which are still
available, have an extruded heat sink on the rear and can
operated in -10°C to 60°C ambient temperatures. The
newly designed thinner VA and VSA models do not have that
heat sink and operate in 0°C to 50°C temperatures.
The
new models feature a resistive touch screen, an Intel®
Atom™ N270, 1.6 GHz Processor, 1 to 2 GB of system memory,
a 320GB SATA hard drive, and a PCI Express Mini Card.
The
VTPC150VSA and VT170VSA are NEMA 4X rated with 316 grade stainless
steel fully sealed enclosures. The VTPC150VA and VTPC170VA
are NEMA 4 rated and have a fully sealed, black powder coated,
machined aluminum enclosure.

Brain

Problem
A - Isaac and Albert were excitedly describing the result of the
Third Annual International Science Fair Extravaganza in Sweden.
There were three contestants, Louis, Rene, and Johannes. Isaac
reported that Louis won the fair, while Rene came in second. Albert,
on the other hand, reported that Johannes won the fair, while
Louis came in second.
In
fact, neither Isaac nor Albert had given a correct report of the
results of the science fair. Each of them had given one correct
statement and one false statement. What was the actual placing
of the three contestants?

Problem
B - A man is the owner of a winery who recently passed away. In
his will, he left 21 barrels (seven of which are filled with wine,
seven of which are half full, and seven of which are empty) to
his three sons. However, the wine and barrels must be split so
that each son has the same number of full barrels, the same number
of half-full barrels, and the same number of empty barrels. Note
that there are no measuring devices handy. How can the barrels
and wine be evenly divided?
See
Answers Below
A)
Johannes won; Rene came in second; Louis came in third.
B)
Two half-full barrels are dumped into one of the empty barrels.
Two more half-full barrels are dumped into another one of the
empty barrels. This results in nine full barrels, three half-full
barrels, and nine empty barrels. Each son gets three full barrels,
one half-full barrel, and three empty barrels.
