Rain
or shine the X-series all-weather products by VarTech will not let
you down. In many industrial environments, monitors are exposed
to a variety of weather conditions and must be able to perform well
in all these conditions. In direct sunlight or the dark of night
VarTech's new IP68 All-Weather Fully Submersible series monitors
will provide a consistently clear image. Low-Power bright 700 to
1200 nits (cd/m2) PASSIVELY enhanced panels are a standard feature
making the units an unparallel solution for high ambient lighting
conditions.
Following strict IP68 (NEMA 6P) guidelines, this series has been
designed for extreme conditions and is completely sealed to protect
the unit from water, oil, dirt and other contaminants. Intended
for indoor or outdoor usage, the new All-Weather series provides
an exceptional degree of protection against hose-directed water,
the entry of water during prolonged submersion, and the damage from
external ice formation.
This product's solid milled aluminum design is both rugged and visually
pleasing making it suitable for use in the most challenging environments.
The front mounted on/off, dimming and setup control adjusts the
display for ultimate operator viewing. For added convenience you
may choose to equip your All Weather flat panel with a resistive
touch screen to simulate mouse controls. The touch panel has been
engineered to operate even in dirty or wet conditions. Mounting
is accomplished via a shock resistant adjustable ball (RAM) mount,
or it can be bolted directly to a console. This All-Weather series
is designed to operate over a very wide temperature range (0 to
60C) with optional heaters for -40 to +60C operation. This product
line is ideally suited for industrial, marine, mobile, generator
powered or fixed mount applications.

Enclosed VESA Mount Monitor and Computer -
Model VT150ESCHBU
The
VT150ESCHBU is a fully enclosed all-in-one NEMA 4X and military/marine
grade monitor and computer that has been proven to perform under
harsh computing environments. Engineered for the toughest real world
environments, such as, industrial production areas, outdoor kiosks
and public terminals, this high tech system has been designed to
maintain an extraordinary luminance level of 1500 nits (cd/m2).
Military
Tested. This system has passed harshed military test according
to guidelines set by MIL-STD-901-D, MIL-STD-167-1 and MIL-STD-461
Nothing
gets under its skin. Since there are no external vents,
there is no way for dust, dirt, moisture, oil or other contaminants
to get inside the systems casing. A hard anodized aluminum heat
exchanger and internal heat management system keep it cool in areas
where ambient heat temperature can reach 50C -- without using outside
air.
Easy
Access. The VT150ESCHBU is designed with upgrades in mind.
A latched panel provides simple access. The moderate weight and
dimensions allow for a variety of mounting options. The touch screen
allows for freedom from as standard mouse or keyboard, however,
both items may be added.

Class
1, Division 1 & Division 2 Solutions
VarTech
supports workstations that are developed according to Class 1 Div
1 and Div 2 specifications. These systems are NEMA 4X rated, dust
proof, water proof, corrosion resistant and able to withstand extreme
temperature ranges. By design these system perform well under a
variety of shock and vibration conditions.
Airtight
to promote safety. All Div 1 workstations are equipped with
sophisticated closed-loop thermal management system that utilizes
a bi-planar finned, anodized aluminum heat exchanger to keep the
computer's internal operating temperatures low. VarTech's rugged
Purged series operator interface systems allow for the placement
of totally enclosed hardened computers into areas Classified as
hazardous (explosive). Intrinsically safe, this purging (pressurization)
approach ensures that there will always be a continuous clean air-flow
out of the enclosure thereby preventing the intrusion of explosive
gasses or dust into the enclosure. Shock and vibration isolation
is provided at two levels -- on the chassis and in the drive bay
-- for protection in severe vibration environments. An integrated
intrinsically safe keyboard is used with all Division 1 products.
Div 2 systems include a non-incendive keyboard.
Guaranteed
Reliability. The Div 1 and Div 2 workstations will perform
smoothly and efficiently in environments where other computers have
failed. The tough enclosure was designed to ensure these systems
perform well in hazardous environments.

Class
1, Division 1 or Division 2 - What's right for me?
Class
1, Division 1 and Division 2 equipment are required for use in hazardous
areas. Class 1, Div 1 guidelines are more stringent and in force
in several situations. Using compliant lcd monitors, computers and
workstations is necessary where any of the following hazardous Class
1, Division1 conditions exist.
-
Ignitable concentrations of flammable gases and vapors commonly
exist during day-to-day operations
-
Ignitable concentrations of gases and vapors are frequently
present due to repair, maintenance or leaks
- Breakdowns
or faulty operations of equipment or processes may release ignitable
concentrations of gases and vapors
All
the conditions above outline Class 1, Div 1 environments and all
electrical equipment used in these areas including lcd flat panel
monitors, computers and workstations must be either explosionproof,
purged and pressurized or intrinsically safe according to Class
1, Div 1 standards.
Unlike
Class 1, Div 1 equipment, Class 1, Division 2 conditions do not
allow for ignitable gases and vapors to be present as a part of
the normal working environment. Class 1, Div 2 procedures are in
force in any of the following environments,
-
Volatile
flammable liquids or gases and handled, processed are used,
but are normally contained within closed systems from which
they can escape only in case of a rupture or breakdown of
the enclosed system to an operational failure.
-
Ignitable
concentrations of gases and vapors are normally prevented
due to proper ventilation and may become a hazard only through
failure or abnormal operation of the ventilation system
-
An
area that is adjacent to a Class 1, Div 1 location and ignitable
gases or vapors may occassionaly be present due to failure
in positive pressure ventilation
In
Class 1, Div 2 environments the lcd flatpanel monitor must be explosionproof,
purged and pressurized or intrinsically safe according to Class
1, Division 2 standards. In Div 2 conditions you are not required
to have an enclosed mouse and keyboard because it is deemed that
they are not capable of producing a spark above ignition temperatures.
