LimnTech Scientific, Inc., based in Souderton, Pennsylvania, designs GPSbased machine vision systems for roadway marking. Their LifeMark®100 Automated Layout System installs in a standard pickup truck or paint truck to paint road lines with precision.
LimnTech needed a compact, rugged display that could handle vehicle shocks, DC power input, Linux compatibility, and sunlight readability. VarTech supplied a 10.4” custom designed DiamondVue monitors that meet all requirements and have been in continuous use for over 10 years.
Marking trucks operate on uneven roads. Their display had to survive vibration, wide temperature swings, and direct sun glare. It also needed a single connector for power and touch signals to reduce cable clutter.
A clear, responsive interface was vital for operators to monitor the painting process in real time.
VarTech’s 10.4” DiamondVue monitor was chosen after joint design and testing with LimnTech's engineers. Key features included:
Monitors were mounted via VESA brackets next to the driver’s seat for ergonomic access and clean cable routing.
Since deployment, DiamondVue monitors have delivered stable operation and clear visuals under all road and lighting conditions. The single cable LEMO solution reduced installation time and maintenance points.
Operators report reliable touch response, and no downtime related to display failures. Still operating reliably after more than a decade in the field, these units are a testament to VarTech’s commitment to durability.
LimnTech selected VarTech for:
LimnTech Scientific, Inc. supports the construction industry, including highway, street, and bridge surface marking applications. It enables precise line placement, reduces operational costs by using standard trucks, and enhances safety through real-time feedback.
