Windows 10 Home and Pro will reach end of support on October 14th, 2025.
Version 22H2 is the final release and will receive security updates only until that date. After the deadline, Microsoft will cease free updates, technical assistance, and security fixes.
Computers running Windows 10 will continue to function but will not receive further patches, leaving them more vulnerable. This change affects everyone who relies on Windows 10.
Once Windows 10 reaches its end date, Microsoft will stop issuing new features, bug fixes, and security patches.
Users requiring continued protection can subscribe to the ESU (Extended Security Updates) program, a paid service providing critical patches after official support ends.
A Windows Experience blog notes that “as we approach the end of support for Windows 10 on October 14th, users should transition to Windows 11 because Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates.
Windows 11 has stricter hardware requirements than Windows 10. Devices must support modern processors, Secure Boot and the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 2.0.
Some older PCs lack these features. Microsoft notes that for devices that cannot be upgraded must either enroll in the paid ESU program or replace incompatible hardware.
VarTech Systems is ready to guide clients and partners through the transition. We can assess each computer to determine whether it meets Windows 11 requirements and help migrate data and applications.
For devices that cannot be upgraded, we provide recommendations for replacement hardware or assistance enrolling in the ESU program. Costs vary depending on hardware and licensing. VarTech offers transparent pricing so companies can budget effectively.
For customers operating legacy hardware that does not support UEFI, Secure Boot, or TPM 2.0, Microsoft continues to offer Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC and Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC editions.
These versions remain available for purchase and will receive updates until 2031, as the latest Enterprise LTSC release was issued in 2021.
VarTech Systems computers are ideal candidates for these editions since they are engineered for specific industrial tasks rather than general office use.
Offering upgrades to Windows 11 or deployments of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC/IoT on existing units creates a proactive opportunity for system renewal and service support, helping customers maintain long-term stability and compliance without immediate hardware replacement.
After October 14th, 2025, Windows 10 devices will no longer receive free security updates Upgrading to Windows 11 keeps systems protected and eligible for future improvements, while the ESU program offers a temporary option for those who cannot upgrade immediately.
VarTech Systems can help organizations develop an orderly upgrade plan, so they remain secure and productive when Windows 10 support ends.
